JAKARTA - Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir revealed two things so that he was impressed with Lokananta, the first recording studio in Indonesia located in Solo, Central Java, namely related to the Asian Games and PSSI.

"Of course, when I was playing (Lokananta) I shook a bit, apparently there was a connection here in 1962 with the recording of the song Asian Games, it's like this, the former chairman of the Asian Games," said Erick giving a speech at the inauguration of the Lokananta after being revitalized in Solo, Saturday, quoted by Antara.

Previously, Erick had been the Chair of the 2018 Asian Games Committee in Jakarta and Palembang.

As for other impressions, he said, related to the founder of Lokananta, namely Raden Maladi, who was also the General Chair of the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) for the 1950-1959 period.

"Then, there was another connection that was conveyed, apparently Mr Maladi is the chairman of PSSI in 1950-1959. Coincidentally, I also attended (the inauguration) maybe there was a relationship with PSSI as well," said Erick.

Previously, the Ministry of SOEs through PT Danareksa (Persero)-PT Asset Management Company (PPA) with the support of the Solo City Government revived the assets belonging to Perum Percetakan Negara Republik Indonesia (PNRI) by revitalizing and optimizing Lokananta assets.

Therefore, he hopes that Lokananta as a historic asset must be maintained, utilized and developed.

"This is what I think is why this is something historic that we have to protect because I said earlier it was impossible for our great nation to progress but not have cultural fundamentals," said Erick.

After being revitalized, Lokananta will become a center for creativity and commercial hubs for musicians, artists and MSMEs so that they can have a social impact, economic progress and preservation of Indonesian culture.

Lokananta also has a sustainable future with a focus on five business pillars, namely museums/gallaries, recording studios, music and art performance arenas, culinary areas, and UMKM galleries.

To run the five pillars of the Lokananta business, Danareksa-PPA also collaborated with M Bloc Group as operator. Lokananta will also implement a placemaking pattern such as at M Bloc Space, South Jakarta.

Lokananta is the first record company in Indonesia founded by Raden Maladi in 1956.

As the first recording studio and until now it is still the largest in Indonesia, Lokananta has orbited many legends, including Gesang, Waldjinah, Buby Chen, Titiek Puspa, Bing Slamet, Sam Saimun to Ki Narto Sabdo.
