The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Has Extended The Detention Period Of Lawyer Lukas Enembe, Who Is Suspected Of Being Investigating Investigations

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has extended the detention of the lawyer for the inactive Papua Governor Lukas Enembe, Stefanus Roy Rening. The extension was carried out for 40 days.

"The investigative team has extended its detention period for the next 40 days to July 7, 2023," said Head of the KPK News Section Ali Fikri to reporters, Wednesday night, May 31.

Perpanjangan dilakukan karena penyidik masih mengusut kasus yang menjeratnya. Roy merupakan tersangka dugaan perintangan penyidikan kasus suap dan gratifikasi di Papua.

"(Detained, red) at the KPK Detention Center at the TNI Puspomal Mako," said Ali.

Previously, the KPK officially detained one of Lukas Enembe's attorneys, Stefanus Roy Rening, regarding the alleged obstruction to the investigation into bribery, gratification, and money laundering (TPPU) cases. He is suspected of influencing the witness to build an incorrect opinion.

In addition, Roy asked other people who were witnesses in the Lukas Enembe case to give testimonials that were not true. The goal is that the anti-corruption commission is considered negative so that the investigation into the alleged corruption that is running cannot be carried out.

The witness was asked to convey false news at the church in Papua. So, the congregation there was finally provoked.

Not only that, Stefanus also advised other witnesses not to hand over money as a return on the alleged corruption results that were being resolved. The challenge of this investigation has been carried out since the KPK named Lukas Enembe as a suspect.
