Jokowi's Political Tour Starts in Lampung, Continues to NTT and West Java

JAKARTA - The 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, is scheduled to begin his political tour from Lampung, a province that has historically had a strong emotional and electoral closeness to the figure who is familiarly called Jokowi, on Friday, June 26.

Jokowi confirmed his departure plan to Lampung when he was met in Jakarta, Thursday, June 25. "To Lampung tomorrow morning (today, ed)," said Jokowi briefly.

Previously, the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) explained the reason for choosing Lampung as the first area visited by Jokowi. After Lampung, the former head of state is also scheduled to visit East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) and West Java.

The Chairman of the PSI DPP Bestari Barus said that the determination of the destination area considered a number of factors, including invitations from the community and the track record of development that Jokowi had carried out while still serving as president.

"Based on who invited the fastest and historically, it is also possible," said Bestari.

According to Bestari, a number of development programs carried out by Jokowi in Lampung are still attached to the public's memory. One of them is the improvement of road infrastructure which had previously been a public concern.

"We know that Lampung is a touch of Mr. Jokowi there is quite a lot. Remember that he stopped on the damaged road, it was finally repaired," he said.

Besides Lampung, NTT was also chosen because it was considered to have emotional closeness with Jokowi. During his two terms as president, Jokowi has repeatedly made working visits to the province.

"Well, if NTT, thank God, the people of NTT have seen and enjoyed the results of Pak Jokowi's visit while he was president. More than 20 times he came to NTT," said Bestari.

PSI assessed that the series of visits was an opportunity for Jokowi to return to meet with the public in various areas that have been the location of the implementation of a number of national development programs.
