The Trust Council For The Unity Of Betawis Holds The 9-10 June Congress, Discusses The Proposal For Amendments To The Betawi Regional Regulation To The DKI Law

The United Betawi Trustees Council will hold a congress on June 9 and 10, 2023

JAKARTA - The Betawi Association Trustees will hold congresses on June 9 and 10, 2023.

Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta for Tourism and Culture as chairman said the congress would ratify the United Betawi Trustees Council as a customary institution.

"We will hold a congress that we will direct on June 9 and 10, 2023. The implementation, God willing, will be in Jakarta, I will convey the place later," said Marullah, Wednesday, May 31.

Marullah said the assembly, which had previously united Bamus Betawi and Bamus of the 1982 Betawi Tribe, would also discuss a number of things at the congress.

First, the Betawi Association Trustees Council will propose changes to Regional Regulation Number 4 of 2015 concerning the Preservation of Betawi Culture to the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government.

"We have a Regional Regulation on the Preservation of Betawi Culture. Maybe, in the future we propose not preservation, but the promotion of Betawi culture," said Marullah.

In addition, the Betawi Association Trustees will also propose material regarding the promotion of Betawi culture in the amendment to Law Number 29 of 2007 concerning the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government in line with the transfer of the nation's capital city (IKN) to the archipelago.

"Observing Jakarta is no longer the capital city, we want to provide input on the revision of Law Number 29 concerning DKI Jakarta. We provide input related to it at the congress," he explained.

The chairman of the 1982 Betawi Tribe Bamus, Zainudin or who is familiarly called Bang Oding, revealed that the revision of Law Number 29 of 2007 which will discuss the specificity of Jakarta is being discussed by the Ministry of Home Affairs with the Indonesian House of Representatives.

"The name will be the Jakarta Special Region Law. So, the Ministry of Home Affairs, the factions in the DPR RI, the Acting Governor and Chairman of the DPRD agreed to include the original Betawi culture as the original culture of Jakarta in the Draft Law. Alhamdulillah, the articles in the special Jakarta regional law have been listed regarding the promotion of Betawi culture," said Oding.

Furthermore, the General Chairperson of Bamus Betawi, Riano P. Ahmad said that the Betawi Association Trustees Council would be opened at the Great Hall, Jakarta City Hall which was also attended by the Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta, Heru Budi Hartono.

"There is some input from the Betawi people, one of which is related to the formation of customary institutions, because Betawi may be the only one who does not yet have a traditional institution, while others already have," concluded Riano.
