Just Out Of Prison, Recidivists From Cianjur Arrested Again For Stealing Motorcycles

The Cianjur Police, West Java, arrested two motorcycle theft perpetrators who had gone viral on social media because they were caught on CCTV at PAUD Al-Istiqlal, Selajambe Village, Sukaluyu District, on behalf of Yudi S and Aceng P.

"Both of them are threatened with five years in prison," said Cianjur Police Chief, AKBP Aszhari Kurniawan, quoted by ANTARA Tuesday, May 30.

He said the two perpetrators were recidivist with the same case and only got out of prison a few months ago, from the hands of the perpetrators the officers secured a number of evidences.

"The evidence that was secured was several letter T keys and a motorbike that was suspected to have been stolen. Both of them are a gang that has stolen several times in a number of sub-districts in Cianjur along with another perpetrator," said Aszhari.

Another perpetrator who managed to escape, he said, is currently still being chased by officers and is on the Cianjur Police Wanted List (DPO), the perpetrator is tasked with selling stolen motorbikes to other regions.

The arrest of the two perpetrators, he said, was no more than 2X24 hours after officers received reports of missing, the perpetrator was arrested at his hiding place in Surade District, Sukabumi Regency without a fight and taken directly to the Cianjur Police Headquarters.

"Both specialists in two-wheeled motorized vehicle thieves who do not take long to act every time. Their stolen goods are sold to the southern regions of Cianjur and Sukabumi," he said.

The perpetrators are threatened with Article 363 of the Criminal Code paragraphs 1 and 4 with a maximum imprisonment of five years. Currently, officers are still developing the case to find evidence of motorbikes sold by the perpetrators to a number of areas.

"We urge residents of vehicle owners to increase their vigilance when parking their vehicles in public places or in the yard. Make sure the vehicle is in double key and easy to monitor so as not to become a victim of theft," he said.
