24 Houses In Sumbawa Burnt Out

The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Sumbawa, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), stated that 24 houses in Musuk Hamlet, Tangkampul Village, Batulanteh District, were destroyed by the red rooster.

"The cause of the fire is still being assessed," said the Head of BPBD Sumbawa Regency, M Nurhidayat, quoted by ANTARA, Monday, May 29.

As a result of the fire, dozens of houses were burned down and one official house was also burned down. Meanwhile, the number of affected residents was 25 families.

"There were no casualties in the fire incident. However, residents suffered material losses," he said.

The fire disaster allegedly started when one of the wooden houses or houses on stilts, one of the victims, at that time was installing Acu in his house to charge his cellphone.

"Furthermore, the walls of the house were burned which were made of boards and spread to other residents' houses," he said.

People who saw the incident immediately tried to extinguish the fire with makeshift tools because the location and terrain leading to Musuk Hamlet were mountains, far away and a rocky road.

"The fire can be extinguished at 13.15 WITA," he said.

No houses or valuables belonging to the residents could be saved, because the fire engines could not enter, due to the condition of the road to the location which was also quite difficult.

After the incident, his party immediately coordinated with the village government and collected data on the needs of residents. In addition, residents assisted by the authorities have carried out cleaning up the impact of the fire.

"The current urgent needs include tarpaulins, blankets, drinking water, proper use and baby equipment," he said.
