Residents Of North Gorontalo Save 3 Meters Crocodile Trapped In Sero

Residents rescued a 3 meter long crocodile in Sero, Monano District, North Gorontalo, Gorontalo Province, (ANTARA)

GORONTALO - Residents of Ilomata Hamlet, Pilohulata Village, Monano District, North Gorontalo, Gorontalo Province, managed to save one crocodile confined in a sero located on Bonggilo Beach.

"Residents managed to save one crocodile, at around 8 am, which was entangled in a sero or fish trap with the local name Olate. The Sero belonged to a resident of mine named Hendrawan Busra," said Head of Pilohulata Village, Marten Usman, quoted by ANTARA, Monday, May 29.

At around 8 am, Hendrawan said Marten, was about to go and take fish at his sero. From a distance of a few meters, he saw a strange movement from inside the surface of the Sero. After approaching, Hendrawan was shocked because he saw a crocodile in the sero.

It is about 3 meters longer. Hendrawan then returned to the village to call other residents. They intend to save the crocodile. In addition, this wild animal must be secured so as not to take victims.

About 1 kilo meter of sero distance from the edge of Bonggilo Beach. After successfully tying the mouth and leg of the crocodile, residents lifted it to be secured on land. "We put the crocodile at the back of my house," said Marten.

His party as the village government immediately contacted the Gorontalo Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA) to save the crocodile, so that it was taken to a captivity or a safe place. Also contacted the Orchid Sector Police (Polsek) to secure the location. "Given that since the crocodile discovery, residents have flocked to witness it live," said Marten.

The village government conveyed an appeal to residents to continue their normal activities. Given that this is the first time this incident was discovered in the waters of Bonggilo Beach in the Monano area.

"We ask the BKSDA to immediately secure this crocodile. And urge residents to continue their activities as usual," he said.
