JAKARTA - One by one the leaders of countries and international organizations in the world congratulate Recep Tayyip Erdogan, after winning the second round of the Turkish Presidential Election on Sunday, hoping to continue cooperation and good relations with Ankara.
World leaders took advantage of social media and public platforms to offer their congratulations and support for President Erdogan.
Included in those who offered their congratulations and support were the leaders of Russia and the United States who were involved in tensions over the invasion of Ukraine.
US President Joe Biden on Sunday congratulated President Erdogan on his victory in the second round of the Turkish presidential election.
"I look forward to continuing to work together as a NATO ally on bilateral issues and shared global challenges," President Biden said in a tweet, launching Reuters May 29.
Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated his "friend" Erdogan, saying that the victory was proof that the Turkish people valued President Erdogan's independent foreign policy.
"The election victory is a natural result of your selfless work as the head of the Republic of Turkey, a clear proof of the support of the Turkish people for your efforts to strengthen the country's sovereignty and carry out an independent foreign policy," Putin said in a message to Erdogan, according to the Kremlin.
"We highly appreciate your personal contribution to strengthening friendly Russian-Turkish relations and mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields," Putin said.
Putin also said he attaches great importance to joint projects such as the Akkuyu nuclear power plant in Turkey, which is being built by Russia's state energy group Rosatom, and a gas center proposed by Putin in Turkey.
From Europe, French President Emmanuel Macron congratulated Erdogan on his re-election, saying: "We will continue to move forward together."
President Macron's colleague, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz also congratulated President Erdogan, saying: "Together we want to advance our common agenda with new impetus!"
Still from Europe, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak congratulated Erdogan on his re-election, saying: "I look forward to continuing strong cooperation between our countries."
Meanwhile, Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte congratulated the Turkish President, saying he wished Erdogan "success in the coming years."
"I look forward to continuing to strengthen Dutch-Turkish relations and work together as friends and allies," he wrote on Twitter.
Next, despite the country being torn by war, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky congratulated President Erdogan on his re-election, saying that he looks forward to developing cooperation for European security and stability.
Swedish prime minister, whose accession to NATO membership has not been ratified by Ukrina, Ulf Kristersson also congratulated Erdogan, saying "our security together is the priority of the future."
Congratulating President Erdogan, European Council President Charles Michel said he looked forward to working with him again to deepen relations.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen also congratulated Erdogan on his victory, saying she "looks forward to continuing to build EU-Turkey relations."

From the Arab and Middle East regions, President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Mohammed bin Zayed congratulated President Erdogan on President Erdogan's victory.

Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in his congratulations, described President Erdogan as "one of the few world leaders whose politics is anchored in public service."
"Dear brother, congratulations on your victory, and I wish you success in your new term of office, and that you achieve in it what our Turkish brothers aspire to in terms of progress and prosperity," tweeted Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani on Twitter.

From Africa, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi also congratulated Erdogan on his victory in Sunday's second round.
