MADIUN - The District Attorney (Kejari) of Madiun City, East Java, has detained two suspects in the alleged corruption case at the Tirta Taman Sari Regional Public Company (Perumda) or PDAM Madiun City.

Head of the Intelligence Section of the Madiun City Prosecutor's Office, Dicky Andi Firmansyah, said the two suspects were employees of the regional company, namely RE (30) cashier who concurrently served as supervisor of cashiers and J (54) Head of Account Control Subdivision

"Today we have named suspects and detained RE and J for the alleged corruption case of misuse of customer funds in a water account at PDAM Madiun City," said Dicky Andi, quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, May 24.

The two suspects are suspected of committing a criminal act of misuse of funds from water account customers at PDAM Madiun City.

The detention was carried out after two pieces of evidence were sufficient at once in accordance with the fulfillment of subjective and objective requirements as determined in Article 21 Paragraph (1), and (4) of the Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP).

Dicky explained that the case occurred during 2022. Based on the results of the audit by the Madiun City Inspectorate Team, state losses in this case reached around Rp. 729 million.

The two suspects are now being held at the Madiun Class I Correctional Institution (Lapas) for the next 20 days starting Wednesday (24/5) in order to expedite the investigation process.

The case will continue to be developed because it does not rule out the possibility of other additional suspects.

"We are conducting a further investigation process because it does not rule out the possibility of other additional suspects," he said.
