South Kalimantan Police Chief Make Sure There Are No Signs Of Violence On The Body Of A Vietnamese Foreigner

BANJARMASIN - South Kalimantan Police Chief Inspector General Andi Rian R Djajadi confirmed that there were no signs of violence on the body of a foreign national (WNA) from Vietnam who died aboard the MV PVT Saphire coal carrier in Tabanio waters, Tanah Luat Regency.

"Initial reports from the ship suspected of having a heart attack, then an external examination by the hospital also showed no signs of violence on his body," said the South Kalimantan Police Chief in Banjarmasin as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, May 24.

Because there were no initial findings leading to a crime, said the Kapolda, the police did not carry out an investigation and only helped in the process of issuing a post-mortem to state that there was no crime and the process of curing for return to their country of origin.

"Currently, we are still waiting for the representatives of the state to process further whether their bodies are repatriated or for example cremated and so on," explained the Kapolda.

A foreigner from Vietnam named Hoang Van Thang (55) was reported to have died on a ship on Monday (22.5) while carrying out work activities containing coal in Tabanio waters.

The foreigner is a crew member of the PVT Saphire ship that entered the waters of South Kalimantan for coal transportation.

Head of the Immigration Division of the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkumham) South Kalimantan Junita Sitorus said Immigration recorded the foreigner as the crew of the ship that died on the ship.

"So the victim was recorded on the Vietnamese-flagged ship crew list," said Junita.

Based on the Information System for Foreigner Supervision Management (Simpa) of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of South Kalimantan as of May 24, 2023, 1,116 foreigners were recorded in the South Kalimantan region.
