JAKARTA - Vice President (Vice President) Ma'ruf Amin chaired a ministerial-level plenary meeting on the Acceleration of the Elimination of Extreme Poverty (PPKE) at the Vice Presidential Palace, Jakarta, Wednesday, May 24.
In his introduction, the Vice President conveyed that the meeting was held to hear evaluation reports and progress on the implementation of ministry/institutional assignments in accordance with Presidential Instruction 4/2022 concerning PPKE.
"As directed by the President, the government targets Indonesia's extreme poverty to be zero percent by 2024. This effort is a challenge in itself, considering that the reduction in extreme poverty is the end result of the entire broad national development process," said the Vice President.
To note, the Vice President also serves as Chair of the National Team for the Acceleration of Poverty Reduction (TNP2K) as well as the implementing coordinator of Presidential Instruction (Inpres) number 4 of 2022 PPKE.
"I received a report that the World Bank in the Credit Assessment which was released in early May 2023 stated that Indonesia was on-track in an effort to eliminate extreme poverty, where extreme poverty in Indonesia as of March 2022 had reached 1.5 percent, although it was different from the results of the National Statistics Agency (BPS) in March 2022, which was 2.04 percent," he said.
In the previous meeting, the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture had reported the development of Data on the Monitoring of the Acceleration of the Elimination of Extreme Poverty (P3KE) to ensure the accuracy of the target recipients of aid.
This P3KE data has information by name-by address-by NIK, relatively new family socio-economic characteristics, and also a family welfare rating.
