Temporary Voter Data In Southeast Sulawesi Declines, KPU: There Are A Number Of Factors

The General Election Commission (KPU) of Southeast Sulawesi (Sultra) continues to make efforts to update the temporary voter list ahead of the 2024 general election (Pemilu). This is to prevent double data.

"So far we have continued to actively update. We are checking the extent to which our data is not double," said KPU Sultra Commissioner for the Data and Information Division, Nato Al Haq.

He also said that his party was trying to make the public or the public participate in reporting themselves if they had not been included in the temporary voter list, so that data collection could be carried out.

Nato said that his party had held a coordination meeting to determine the temporary voter list of improvement results (DPSHP) which was attended by all ranks of district/city KPUs throughout Southeast Sulawesi.

He said that the temporary voter data decreased when compared to the DPS in April 2023 as many as 1,880,232 voters after an update was made directly to the public.

Nato also said a number of factors that caused a reduction in voter lists, including domicile transfers, double data including death.

In fact, according to Nato, the season for the implementation of the pilgrimage can also be a factor in changing voter data.

"For example, because we are facing the Hajj season, some residents from Southeast Sulawesi take their domicile statements or also change their ID cards in other provinces so that our voter data is corrected," said Nato, as quoted from Antara, Saturday, May 20.

He hopes that voter data while the results of these improvements will be more up-to-date and valid before being set as a final voter list (DPT) on June 21, 2023.

"Because we admit that voters are dynamic, today they can live in Kendari City for example, but maybe in some time suddenly they can live in other provinces," said Nato.
