The NTB Police have uncovered a case of alleged theft by renting a motorcycle taxi service in Mataram City.

Head of Sub-Directorate III for Crime and Violence (Jatanras) of the NTB Police Criminal Investigation Unit Kompol Wendi Oktariansyah in Mataram, Friday, said the perpetrator who carried out the mode had the initials AH alias Ipul (38).

"When the motorcycle taxi driver passed through the South Ring Road in Mataram City, around Loang Baloq, the perpetrator told him to stop, then asked the motorcycle taxi driver to get off the motorbike. After that, the motorcycle taxi was taken away," Wendi said as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, May 19.

In this case, the Puma Team of the NTB Police, which is under the control of the NTB Police Ditreskrimum, conducted a field investigation and succeeded in arresting AH in the Seganteng area, Mataram City, Thursday (18/5) night.

"Departing from the victim's report, we arrested the perpetrator in the Seganteng area along with the victim's motorbike," he said.

From the results of the examination, it was revealed that AH was a recidivist of the crime of theft who had previously served two criminal sentences at the Class IIA Mataram Prison.

"So this is the third time he has dealt with the law. Previously he had been imprisoned twice," he said.

The police are now developing the field. The police suspect AH is part of a stolen vehicle trading syndicate on the island of Lombok.

"This development is to reveal other actions (criminals) of suspects and there are allegations of being involved in the stolen vehicle trading syndicate, we continue to develop this in the field," he said.

Against the suspect, Wendi confirmed that investigators had detained him at the NTB Police Detention Center.
