Living Alone, Elderly Burned To Death When The Fire Burned His House

JAKARTA - The house fire incident on Jalan Budaya, RT 4/5, Cililitan Village, Kramat Jati District, East Jakarta killed one resident of the house on Monday, May 15. The fire spread rapidly so that the victim did not have time to save himself.

Based on information from local residents, the victim was identified as Muhammad Bachtir (60). He lived alone in the house.

"After receiving reports of fires from residents, we dispatched 7 fire engines with 35 personnel to the location of the fire. The fire was successfully extinguished at 04.59 WIB," said Head of East Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-dept., Gatot Sulaeman, Monday, May 15.

Although the fire was successfully extinguished, Gulkarmat Sub-dept. officers could not confirm the cause of the fire that killed one owner of the house.

"Information from residents, the victim lives at home alone. One owner of the house has died, has been taken to the Kramat Jati Police Hospital," he said.

Meanwhile, the area that was scorched was engulfed by a fire of about 300 meters. Losses are estimated at Rp 200 million.
