Sidrap DPRD Member From F-PKS Arrested For Drug Case

MAKASSAR - The Drug Unit Team of the Sidenreng Rappang Regency Police (Sidrap), South Sulawesi arrested two drug abusers of methamphetamine, one of whom was a member of the Sidrap DPRD with the initials HA.

"It is suspected that it is a member of the DPRD. But it is currently under development," said Head of Public Relations of the Sidrap Police, AKP Zakaria, quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, May 12.

Based on the information obtained, the perpetrator was arrested by the police in the Panca Lautang sub-district, Sidrap. At that time, the two people with the initials HA and A were arrested while taking methamphetamine.

The evidence confiscated was a small sachet containing clear crystals suspected of being methamphetamine.

The arrest began with information from the public received by the Sidrap Police Narcotics Unit team regarding drug abuse. Furthermore, together with the Narcotics Opsnal team raided the location in question and arrested the suspect and his evidence on Monday, May 9, 2022 at around 20.45 WITA.

After securing the two suspected users, the team then took them to the Resort Police for further investigation. So far, investigators are still investigating where the illicit goods were obtained.

"While it is still being developed and investigated. This is being investigated by investigators where the goods were obtained by the suspects," said AKP Zakaria.

The initial suspicion is that the suspects are suspected of being charged with the use and ownership of narcotics class I which is suspected of being methamphetamine in accordance with Article 127 and/or 112 of Law number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics with the threat of imprisonment of four years or more.

Confirmed separately, the chairman of the DPD PKS Sidrap, Mahmud Yusuf confirmed the arrest of the DPRD member who was a PKS Sidrap cadre.

"Yes, (true) the initials are HA. We are now waiting for the process from the police only," he told reporters.

The Deputy Regent of Sidrap emphasized that he would dismiss cadres who were proven to be involved as drug abusers.

However, his party has not acted, but still upholds the principle of presumption of innocence and waits for the police investigation process until the court's decision has permanent legal force.

"If we are from PKS, the sanctions are clear. When someone violates the AD/ART code of ethics, then of course they are dishonorably dismissed, that's the rule," said Mahmud asserted.
