Houses Damaged Due To Strong Winds In Tanah Datar, West Sumatra, Regent: Don't Sleep Too Deep At Night

Strong winds caused a number of trees to fall and damaged houses in Tanah Datar Regency, West Sumatra (West Sumatra) on Monday, May 8.

Tanah Datar Regent Eka Putra said that his party is currently still collecting data related to the impact of the damage caused by extreme weather in Tanah Datar.

"Meanwhile, houses were damaged by wind and fallen trees occurred in Jorong Supanjang Nagari Cubanak, Lima people, in Nagari Sumpur, South Batipuh District, and Nagari Balimping, Rambatan District," he said in Batusangar, West Sumatra, Monday, May 8, which was confiscated by Antara.

Because the potential for disasters is still there, he asked his citizens to always be aware of the extreme weather conditions that are currently hitting the district.

"We urge the people of Tanah Datar, because during the rainy season it is accompanied by strong winds so that they are always vigilant and when sleeping at night don't go too deep, pay attention to the conditions around," he said.

He said, if you look at the topography of the region, Tanah Datar Regency is one of the disaster-prone areas, because it is in hills and mountains.

For this reason, he asked for the support and active role of all elements, both from the Regency, District, to the team from the Nagari Disaster Task Force.

The Regent also asked the entire community to report immediately to related parties in the event of a disaster.

"If there is a disaster in the surrounding area or in the nagari, immediately report it. I ask all lines to move together in handling disasters in the field," he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Tanah Datar Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Yusnen, through the Disaster Management Pranata Dodi Susilo, said that in the last few days almost most areas of Tanah Datar Regency had experienced extreme weather.

In fact, he said, the strong winds caused trees to fall on people's homes. However, until now there have been no reports of casualties.

"We ask the public to always be vigilant, and they are advised not to stop or take shelter under trees, especially when the wind is strong and heavy rain," he concluded.
