BANDUNG - The Class I Immigration Office of the Bandung Immigration Checkpoint deported a foreign national from Australia, Brenton Craig Abbas Abdullah (43), who spat on a mosque imam in the Buah Batu area, Bandung City, West Java, some time ago.
Head of the Class I Immigration Office of TPI Bandung Arief Hazairin Satoto said the foreign national (WNA) was deported based on the provisions of Article 75 of Law Number 6 of 2011 concerning Immigration.
"Today we will deport, the plan is to deport through Soekarno Hatta Airport tonight around 21.00 WIB," said Arief at the Bandung Immigration Office, Bandung City, West Java, Antara, Friday, May 5.
According to him, Brenton was found guilty after undergoing a series of examinations at the Immigration Office.
Previously, the Australian was arrested by the Bandung Police at Soekarno Hatta Airport, Tangerang, when he was about to return to his country.
The Australian whose full name is Mchartur Brenton Craig Abas Abdullah was later named a suspect for spat on the mosque imam in Bandung, West Java, on Friday, April 28, 2023.
In addition to being deported, the foreigner was also given sanctions in the form of being banned or prohibited from entering Indonesian territory for the next six months. The deterrence sanction can also be extended.
"After six months, after being banned, it will be checked again if it enters Indonesia, so it could be extended," he said.
Arief explained that the foreigner first entered Indonesian territory through Kualanamu Airport, Medan, North Sumatra, on March 3, 2023. He came to Indonesia with the aim of being a tourist.
"Then he extended his passport period here (Bandung) until April 29 yesterday, the validity period," said Arief.
