Gibran Waits For PDIP's Official Instruction To Be A Campaigner During The 2024 Election

SOLO - Mayor of Solo, Central Java, Gibran Rakabuming Raka admitted that until now he had not received any official directions and instructions to become a campaign interpreter for the Surakarta region for the PDI-P in the 2024 election. "I haven't even received any directions," said Gibran in Surakarta City, Central Java, quoted from Antara, Friday, May 5. Gibran ensured that he was ready to accept the task given. "Yes, if given a task, I will go. I depend on directions and orders. If assigned, immediately leave (depart)," he added. Related to this, Gibran also admitted that there was no shadow and any plans related to the campaign to win the white-nosed bull party. "Waiting for instructions first, what to do, where to penetration. I also need instructions from the general chairman, this has not been obtained," he said. Regarding the possibility that he should undergo leave as Mayor of Solo while serving as a campaign interpreter, Gibran has not been able to confirm this. "Yes, later, see first," he added. Previously, the Surakarta City PDI-P DPC would make Gibran a campaigner for the 2024 election victory for the Surakarta region. "Later, Mas Gibran, Deputy (Vice Mayor of Surakarta Teguh Prakosa), and we will approach several community leaders and we will include them in the 2024 election campaigner," said Head of the Surakarta PDI-P Election Winning Body, Her Suprabu. Her said the names would be proposed by the PDI-P DPC Surakarta City. Furthermore, if it has been determined, it will be registered with the General Elections Commission (KPU) as the official campaigner. "We will first inventory the figures that we will include," he said. To note, registration for presidential and vice-presidential candidates is scheduled for October 19 to November 25, 2023. Based on Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning Elections (UU Pemilu), pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates are proposed by political parties or coalitions of political parties participating in the election who meet the requirements for obtaining seats of at least 20 percent of the total seats in the DPR or obtaining 25 percent of valid votes nationally in the previous election for members of the DPR.

Currently, there are 575 seats in parliament, so that the pairs of presidential and vice-presidential candidates in the 2024 presidential election must have at least 115 seats in the DPR RI. It is also possible that the candidate pairs can be promoted by political parties or a combination of political parties participating in the 2019 Election with a total valid vote acquisition of at least 34,992,703 votes.
