PALU - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Central Sulawesi recorded that 70 housing units in two villages in Poso Regency were flooded.
"Two villages were reported to have been flooded, namely Maranda Village and Trimulya Village in Poso Pesisir Utara District," said Head of Emergency and Logistics Division of Central Sulawesi Province BPBD Andi Sembiring in Palu as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, May 4.
Floods in the two villages occurred on Thursday (4/5) afternoon at around 17.00 WITA and the report was received at 19.00 WITA.
According to Andi Sembiring, the flood was caused by the high intensity of rain upstream the river causing the Samallera River and Kilo River to overflow to inundate residential areas with water levels reaching 100 centimeters.
In Maranda Village, he said, as many as 30 housing units were submerged, public facilities, such as three school units, one prayer facility, one health facility and Trans Sulawesi road were also submerged.
Meanwhile, in Trimulya Village, 40 housing units were submerged and public facilities such as the village hall and Jalan Trans Sulawesi were also submerged.
He explained that the Central Sulawesi Rapid Response Team (TRC) and local districts were still collecting field data.
