KPK Brings Hundreds Of Documents To South Jakarta District Court To Face Pretrial Lukas Enembe

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) presented hundreds of documents before the Panel of Judges at the South Jakarta District Court (PN) today, Tuesday, May 2. The presentation was delivered by the KPK Legal Bureau against the inactive Papua Governor Lukas Enembe's pretrial.

"We presented 142 documents explaining that the process of investigating this case was carried out based on legal regulations," said Head of the KPK News Section Ali Fikri to reporters, Tuesday, May 2.

Ali also said that the KPK also presented eight experts, one of whom was a criminal law expert from UII, Arief Setiawan. "In addition, three specialist doctors from the Gatot Soebroto Army Hospital were also presented," he said.

The doctors who were presented were those who treated Lukas Enembe. "And four doctors from PB IDI who checked the factual condition of LE and compiled a second opinion on the suspect's health condition," said Ali.

Not only that, doctors from the KPK who were responsible at the detention center were also presented. Their presence to ensure Lukas is ready to account for his health.

By presenting evidence to experts, the anti-corruption commission hopes that the panel of judges will reject the lawsuit filed by Lukas. They believe that the legal process is in accordance with the rules.

"KPK is very confident that all the evidence presented during the trial process will give confidence to the judge," said Ali.

"And we are optimistic that the judge in his decision will reject all the contents of the application submitted," he continued.

As previously reported, Lukas Enembe filed a pretrial lawsuit with the South Jakarta District Court. He sued the KPK regarding whether or not the determination of the suspect was legal.

In his petitum, Lukas Enembe asked the judge to declare the Investigation Order Number Sprin.Dik/81/DIK.00/01/09/2022, dated September 5, 2022, which named himself a suspect in bribery and gratification by the KPK is invalid and not based on law.

In addition, he asked to be removed from the detention center. Lukas asked to be used as a city prisoner.
