JAKARTA - Thousands of workers who are members of the United Workers Alliance (ABB) took action in the company area of PT Indonesia Weda Bay Industrial Park (IWIP) Lelilef, Central Halmahera Regency (Halteng) in North Maluku Province, regarding the commemoration of international labor day.

The field coordinator for Sofyan Abubakar's action said the commemoration of the May 1, 2023 Labor Day had announced a notification of May Day demonstrations attended by thousands of workers in the area.

He said the action carried out was in accordance with Law number 9 of 1998 concerning Independence expressing opinions in public and Law number 21 of 2000 concerning Workers Unions / Labor Unions, article 4 which regulates the function of the Workers Union, one of which is as a planner, implementer and person in charge of strikes.

Sofyan stated that the actions that thousands of workers participated in would be centered in the PT IWIP area, the Subcontractor of PT IWIP and the Central Halmahera Regent's Office, for action activities ranging from speeches, banners, and umbunk to 1000 people.

"We have sent an action notification letter at the North Maluku Police Headquarters regarding the action centered at PT IWIP," said Sofyan, quoting Antara, Sunday, April 30.

Meanwhile, Inspector General of Police Midi Siswoko appealed to Workers' Unions/Labor and OKP Cipayung Plus and Regional Leaders of Chemical Workers Unions and Mining of All Indonesian Workers Unions (PD FSP KEP SPSI) together to maintain the security and security of North Maluku.

"Let us together invite the workers to become workers or national knights and ready to advance North Maluku," said the Kapolda.

The activity entitled "Raising togetherness of labor unions, entrepreneurs and OPP Cipayung in order to maintain conducive security and social order stability in the North Maluku region ahead of May Day 1 May 2023".

On that occasion, the Kapolda appealed to the leaders of labor unions and the leaders of the Cipayung OKP to jointly maintain security and social order stability in North Maluku ahead of May Day.

Meanwhile, the Regional Leadership of the SPSI Maluku FSP, Ike Masita Tunas in her speech conveyed that the momentum of the commemoration of the hunt day (May day), especially in the North Maluku region, many elements of movement carried out reflection actions to commemorate May Day, but sometimes the momentum of labor day was also often infiltrated by the interests of individuals, groups and elites.

"Therefore, on this occasion we invite all of us to join hands and work together to maintain security and order in the midst of society, especially before May Day on May 1, 2023," he said in his remarks.

To prevent this, said Ike, SPSI invites trade union leaders as a representative organization for labor union and OKP workers not only to focus on activities related to aspirations or actions.
