Police Prepare 2,627 Personnel And Install Face Recognition To Secure ASEAN Summit In Labuan Bajo

The National Police deployed 2,627 personnel and used face recognition technology to secure the 42nd ASEAN Summit or the ASEAN Summit.

The international activity will be held in Labuan Bajo, West Manggarai, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) from 9 to 11 May 2023.

"The personnel plan deployed is 2,627 from the National Police Headquarters as many as 947 personnel, Polda NTT 1,660 personnel, and Polda NTB 20 personnel," said Head of Public Relations of the National Police Inspector General Sandi Nugroho in his statement, Friday, April 28.

Later the thousands of personnel will be placed at various points. They will ensure the safety of the delegates or heads of state who attend to the venue for the event.

The CCTV camera will be equipped with face recognition technology. This technology can detect a list or people suspected of committing a crime.

"The National Police is ready to maintain the safety and comfort of the delegates and heads of state in organizing the ASEAN Summit in Labuan Bajo, NTT," he said.

In addition, before the main event 9-11 May, there will be a side agenda that will be held on 7-9 May. This side agenda will later become the full responsibility of the Police.

"The National Police provides assistance for BKO personnel in ring 1, 2, and 3. For side events, it is the full responsibility of the Police," said Sandi.
