Worried About The Movement Of The Flats, BPBD Cianjur Establishes Emergency Tents For 32 Refugees

The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Cianjur Regency, West Java, has set up an emergency tent for residents of victims of temporary ground movement. BPBD is worried that land movement will continue to expand and increase deeply. Secretary of BPBD Cianjur Regency, Rudi Wibowo, said that his party had recorded that seven houses in Pasirmanglid Village, Sukarame Village, Sukanagara District were damaged and dozens of other houses were threatened due to ground movement that occurred after heavy rains. "About 32 people fled because their houses began to crack due to widespread and deepening ground movement, so that it could threaten the safety of homeowners and their families," said Rudi in Cianjur, as reported by Antara, Wednesday, April 12. His party set up two emergency tents with a capacity of 20 people for one tent, as temporary shelters for residents whose houses were heavily damaged, moderately and lightly, because it was feared that heavy rain would fall again and ground movement would continue to occur. "For the time being, residents filled emergency tents, because ground movement was still happening, Wednesday afternoon we received reports that two houses were threatened with damage to the floor and broken windows, so the owners were evacuated to a safe place," he said. Sukanagara sub-district head Roby Erlangga said that to support the needs of residents during the evacuation, his party had set up a public kitchen and a health service post for residents who could not be sure when they would evacuate, because the rainfall was still high, especially in the afternoon.

"We are very concerned about the needs of residents while evacuating, public kitchens, health posts and others. We have prepared so that residents do not return home first, because the movement of land is still widespread and growing deeply," he said.
