The Karawang Police have begun to close 78 U-turns along the homecoming route for the Karawang Regency, West Java.

"There are 78 u-turns on the Karawang area road that were closed during this year's Eid homecoming season," said Head of Karawang Police Traffic Unit, AKP La Ode Habibi Ade Jama, quoted by ANTARA, Monday, April 10.

He said that the closing of the u-turn will start on Monday today until May 2, 2023.

The roundback, which was closed during the Eid homecoming season, was on the Arteri Karawang-Cikampek road and the Pantura route, namely on Jalan l Tanjungpura on the Karawang-Bekasi border to the Pantura Gamon route on the Karawang-Subang border.

He conveyed that the closure of the backturn was part of an effort to secure the Eid homecoming. The goal is to prevent traffic flow.

The directional round itself is one of the points prone to congestion. So the police decided to close the 78 u-turns along the homecoming route in the Karawang area.

Kasatlantas said that not all of the back-turns on the homecoming route in the Karawang area were closed. There are eight u-turns left to remain open.

So along the homecoming route, only eight u-turns are not closed. It can be used by vehicles to make a U-turn and the spin area is quite wide.

The eight rounds that were not closed during the Eid homecoming season were back-turn at the Kepuh Roundabout, Charles Roundabout, Masari, Pancawati/Kanzen, Pertamina Depot, Casandra U-turn gas station, Gamon, and back-turn at the Jatisari gas station.

According to him, the police will deploy officers to monitor the closed u-turns. This is done to avoid residents or motorists who are desperate to open closed u-turns.

"We apologize beforehand, please understand, this is for the sake of smooth homecoming," said Kasatlantas.
