"There were dozens of teenagers who were arrested in several cases, such as beatings, persecution, possession of sharp weapons (sajam), and a sarong war," said Bantul Police Chief AKBP Ihsan in a press statement in Bantul, Antara, Thursday, April 6.
According to him, the dozens of teenagers who were arrested consisted of eight teenagers who were arrested for cases of beatings, two teenagers in cases of abuse, 16 teenagers in cases of possession of sharp weapons, and 20 people due to the sarong war.
"For the perpetrators of beatings, persecution, and possession of sharp weapons, we will process the law, while for the perpetrators of the sarong war we carry out coaching," he said.
The police chief said that in the case of the sarong war, the police secured 13 motorbikes used by perpetrators who were still junior high school students in one of the Dlingo areas and could be taken after Eid.
"The goal is to warn parents who should care about their children, especially driving safety," he said.
He said the task of maintaining security and public order (kamtibmas) in the area was not only the duty of the police, but community participation and participation were needed.
For this reason, the Police Chief appealed to the public to cooperate with the National Police to create a safe and comfortable Bantul. In addition, parents should pay attention to their sons and daughters from being involved in street crimes or school gangs.
"We ask for the role of parents to supervise their sons and daughters, pay attention to who they are hanging out with, and look for if 22.00 WIB has not returned home. Do not let them become perpetrators or victims of street crimes," he said.
The police chief said during the month of Ramadan he would increase routine patrols in maintaining community security stability, including from the sarong war carried out by teenagers. The police will also take firm action against the perpetrators of crimes so that people can comfortably observe fasting.
"We have increased routine patrols (KRYD) to anticipate all forms that interfere with security and social order," he said.
