Kimia Farma Forms Investigation Team Reveals Cause of Pharmacy Fire in Surabaya

JAKARTA - President Director of PT Kimia Farma Apotek Agus Chandra said that his party had formed an investigation team that would coordinate with the authorities to investigate the cause of the fire at the Kimia Farma Pharmacy on Diponegoro Street, Surabaya.

"We have coordinated with the authorities to investigate the source of the fire incident," Agus said in a written statement received by ANTARA in Jakarta, Wednesday, April 5.

Kimia Farma is working with the Surabaya City Fire and Rescue Service (DPKP) to extinguish the fire incident that occurred at the Kimia Farma Diponegoro Pharmacy, Surabaya.

With the cooperation and assistance of various parties, the fire that broke out at 13.30 WIB was successfully extinguished at 15.30 WIB. There were no casualties in that incident.

"We have evacuated employees who were on duty and visitors to the pharmacy so that there were no fatalities or injuries in this incident," he said.

Kimia Farma diverted health and pharmaceutical services from the incident location to the nearest Kimia Farma Pharmacy on Jalan Raya Darmo, Jalan Arjuna, and Jalan Pandegiling Surabaya.

Previously, the Head of the Surabaya City DPKP Dedik Irianto said that the initial suspicion was that the cause of the fire was due to an electrical short circuit. However, the DPKP is still waiting for an investigation from the police to uncover the cause of the incident.

The fire also caused the roof of the pharmacy building to collapse. A similar condition also occurred on the shelves and display cases for medicines in that room.

"It is suspected that there was a short circuit, but we are still waiting for Inafis' investigation. Only after that can we find out the truth," said Dedik.
