JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo accompanied by Trade Minister Zulkifli Hasan inspected the stocks and prices of food commodities in Jakarta's two markets ahead of Eid al-Fitr 1444 Hijriah.
President Jokowi and his staff visited two markets, namely Rawamangun Market, East Jakarta and Johar Baru Market, Central Jakarta.
"This is close to Eid. The Minister of Trade and I want to check the stock first, then the second is the price," said Jokowi when met at Johar Baru Market, Central Jakarta, Antara, Wednesday, April 5.
After reviewing, Jokowi explained that many food commodities experienced price reductions, such as chicken eggs, chicken meat, rice, and horticultural commodities, including shallots and chilies.
This price decline is in line with the monitoring of the Central Statistics Agency which recorded deflation
"This is good in a position to want Eid but the prices are down that I see," said Jokowi.
Based on observations at Johar Baru Market, a number of commodities experienced a decline in prices, such as chicken meat which fell from Rp. 38,000 per kg to Rp. 33 thousand per kg.
Then, chicken eggs decreased from IDR 30 thousand per kg to IDR 29 thousand per kg, cayenne pepper decreased from IDR 90 thousand per kg to IDR 60 thousand to IDR 65 thousand per kg, shallots decreased from IDR 60 thousand to IDR 40 thousand per kg and garlic from IDR 44 thousand to IDR 40 thousand per kg.
Meanwhile, beef prices remain stable in the range of IDR 140 thousand to IDR 160 thousand per kg.
During his review, President Jokowi was accompanied by Trade Minister Zulkifli Hasan and Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono.
