Sarong War In Cianjur Leads To Criminal Action, Council Asks Perpetrators To Be Strictly Sanctioned

CIANJUR - DPRD Cianjur Regency, West Java, asked local governments and police to impose strict sanctions on perpetrators of the sarong war which are considered to lead to criminal acts because they use sharp weapons as well as fireworks and firecrackers that can injure victims.

Deputy Chairman of the Cianjur DPRD, Deden Nasihin, said that to prevent a sarong war between rejuvenations at certain hours during the fasting month, it is the responsibility of all groups, including parents who have teenage children.

"The sarong war has led to brutal acts because it uses weights at the end and even sharp weapons that can injure and even kill lives. This must be a concern for the Cianjur Regional Leadership Communication Forum (Forkopimda)," he said.

Strict sanctions and legal action must be given to the perpetrators so that there is a deterrent effect so that the sarong war can be eliminated in the Cianjur area because this action can harm the people affected, plus a sarong war using fireworks.

"Don't let the death toll be dealt with firmly, this is a joint task, including the legislature asking the Cianjur Regency Government and Police to provide a deterrent effect by imposing legal sanctions on teenagers involved in the sarong war," he said.

Cianjur Police Chief AKBP Doni Hermawan, said his party was increasing patrols in vulnerable areas to be used as locations for sarong wars at certain hours as an effort to prevent sarong wars, which were widely reported to be troubling residents in a number of areas in Cianjur.

"We involve joint officers from the TNI/Polri and Satpol PP to intensify patrols at a number of vulnerable points to be used as locations for the sarong war. Even the special team that was formed with the Cianjur Regency Government carried out joint patrols every night," he said.

His party also empowers the role of residents through environmental security systems to village patrols in their respective areas as an effort to maintain a conducive security and social security situation and narrow the space for teenagers involved in the sarong war.
