M 4.0 Land Earthquake Shakes Cianjur, The Vibrations Are Felt Until Cipanas And Bogor

JAKARTA - An earthquake with a magnitude (M) of 4.0 occurred in Cianjur, West Java. The vibrations were felt to Cipanas and Bogor City.

The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMG) reported that the earthquake occurred at 12.34 WIB, Wednesday, March 29.

"The epicenter was on land 6 km southwest of Cianjur," as quoted from the Twitter account of the Head of the BMKG Earthquake and Tsunami Center Daryono, @DaryonoBMKG, Wednesday, March 29.

This earthquake has a depth of 10 kilometers. While the coordinates are at 6.84 South Latitude (LS) and 107.08 East Longitude (BT).

According to the BMKG, this earthquake was felt up to Sukabumi, Bogor City, Sukaresmi, Sabandar, Cibodas, Cipanas, and Rancagoong. The vibrations felt in each region are different based on the MMI scale. BMKG reminds residents to remain careful of aftershocks that have the potential to occur again.
