Political Indicator: Ridwan Kamil, Vice President Candidate With Highest Electability

JAKARTA - The results of the Indonesian Political Indicators survey show that West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil has the highest electability as a vice presidential candidate (cawapres).

"Ridwan Kamil (RK) ranked first. However, the difference is not too far compared to Sandi, AHY, and Mas Erick," said Executive Director of Indonesian Political Indicators Burhanuddin Muhtadi in his presentation regarding the results of the survey "Electoral Dynamics of Presidential and Vice Presidential Candidates of Public Choice in the Two Newest National National Surveys" reported by ANTARA, Sunday, March 26.

Even though there has been a decrease in electability, the results of the survey which was opened to the public on March 26 2023 show that Kang Emil's electability as a vice presidential candidate is still higher than the other candidates.

In the survey that was conducted in February and March 2023, Kang Emil was considered the most suitable candidate for vice president. He excelled in the survey with 18 name simulations, 8 name simulations, and 5 name simulations.

In the three simulations, Ridwan Kamil's electability is always above 20 percent. Superior to other names, such as Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), and Erick Thohir whose electability is still below 20 percent.

In the simulation of five vice presidential candidates, respondents who chose RK as vice presidential candidate were also the highest.

The details are that 22 percent of respondents considered RK to be the most suitable candidate for vice president, 17.6 percent chose Erick Thohir, 17.2 percent chose AHY, and 16.3 percent chose Sandi Uno.

The Indicator poll this time was conducted in two periods. The survey was conducted in the period of February and March 2023. In the first period, the survey was conducted on 9-16 February 2023 with 1,220 respondents. In the second period, the poll took place on March 12-18 2023 by placing 800 respondents.

Samples come from all provinces which are distributed proportionally.

In the first period, the assumption of the simple random sampling method is that respondents have a margin of error of around 2.9 percent at a 95 percent confidence level. Meanwhile, in the second period, it has an error tolerance of around 3.5 percent at a 95 percent confidence level.
