5 Perpetrators Of Illegal Online Taxis Armed With Assembled Fire Arrested By The Central Java Police Joint Team

The city of SEMARANG, a gang of gunmen, was arrested by the ranks of the Central Java Police Ditreskrimum. Five suspects were arrested after robbing an online taxi driver and snatching the victim's car.

Director of Criminal Investigation Unit Kombes Pol Johanson Ronald Simamora accompanied by Head of Public Relations Kombes Pol Iqbal Alqudusy explained that five suspects had the initials AKJ (30), HS (29) RGS (28), RSF (30), WDT (43). Four of them are residents of Lampung, while one person is WDT, a resident of Klaten, Central Java. A number of evidences were also secured including a homemade firearm and 3 pieces of active ammunition.

The mode used by the suspect was by ordering an online taxi using an application and waiting for the victim at the Plesungan Surakarta gas station on the evening of Tuesday, February 28. The order was then received by the victim, namely Agus Dwi Laksono (28), a resident of Karang Tengah, Kartosuro who was driving a red Datsun Cross to take him to his destination at Solo Square Mall.

"Only five minutes into the walk, suddenly the victim was pointed at with a rifle by one of the suspects who asked the victim to hand over the car. The victim was then handcuffed and put duct tape on the victim's mouth and eyes by the suspects," explained Dirreskrimum in a written statement, Thursday, March 9.

The victim was then transferred to the suspect's car belonging to the suspect who was trailing from behind. An hour later the suspect dumped the victim in the Ngemplak area of Boyolali. For what happened, the victim then reported the Ngemplak Police of the Boyolali Police.

"Based on the victim's report, the Joint Team of the Boyolali Police and the Central Java Police then moved to do profiling and pursue the suspect's whereabouts," he said.

As a result, on Thursday morning, March 2, the suspects were arrested by the Joint Team while staying at a hotel in the Bandungan tourist area, Ungaran. The suspects and evidence of the facilities and proceeds of the crime were then taken to the Central Java Police for further legal proceedings.

For this incident, Dirreskrimum appealed to the public, especially online drives, to install GPS and cameras on their vehicles. This is in anticipation that if a crime occurs, the police can immediately reveal it through facial identification so as to speed up the disclosure process.

For their actions, the suspects were charged with Article 365 paragraph 2 of the Criminal Code concerning theft with violence with a maximum threat of imprisonment for a maximum of 12 years.
