The Batang Regency Government, Central Java, has not revoked its disaster alert status because the potential for disasters will still occur with the development of weather conditions in a number of areas.

The Head of the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Batang Ulul Azmi Regency said that until now his party had not revoked the status of disaster emergency alert in line with the hydrometeorological phenomenon.

"Yes, since November 2022 we have not withdrawn the disaster emergency status until now. We are still implementing it until the end of March 2023," he said, quoted by ANTARA, Monday, March 6.

His party is still wary of several potential natural disasters that can arise due to hydrometeorological phenomena, such as landslides, floods, and strong winds.

During the end of 2022 to February 2022, his party recorded 24 cases of floods, one flash flood, seven landslides, and extreme weather or 13 strong winds.

With the potential for this disaster, his party continues to activate disaster posts in villages or sub-districts until the emergency alert status is stopped.

"We have held two standby rally activities, namely the end of 2022 and February 2023. This is an effort to remind us of our preparedness with volunteers in dealing with disaster threats," he said.

He appealed to the public to always update weather information to anticipate disasters that can occur in their respective areas.

"We ask the public to always 'update' regarding weather information. People can open the BMKG channel, then they can also check social media, and other pages that provide weather forecast information," he said.
