JAKARTA - The team of doctors for the Bhayangkara TK I Hospital, Raden Said Sukanto (Polri Hospital) Kramat Jati, had difficulty identifying the bodies of victims of the Pertamina Depot fire, Plumpang, North Jakarta.

The difficulty was due to the condition of the burning corpse and the lack of comparative data from the family.

Karo Dokpol Pusdokkes Polri, Brigadier General Nyoman Eddy Purnama Wirawan also said that the difficulty of teletak in the process of identifying external examinations of the bodies.

"Recognition of the outside examination is a bit difficult, so we take DNA," Brigadier General Nyoman told reporters, Monday, February 6.

As is known, as many as 15 bodies and one body of the victims of the Pertamina Plumpang Depot fire were taken to the Kramatjati Police Hospital. Of the 15 bodies, as many as 3 bodies have been identified and handed over to the family.

However, currently, the DVI team is constrained by the fingerprint identification process because the victim's body was burned. Lack of ante mortem data or comparative data from the family is also an obstacle. Of the 15 families, only 14 families submitted ante mortem data.

Please note, in the process of identifying DVI through matching ante mortem data with post mortem is fingerprints. So it is influenced by the physical condition outside the body.

Of the 15 bodies of victims of the Pertamina Plumpang Depot fire, 9 of them suffered grade 2 and 3 burns. Meanwhile, 6 other bodies suffered further burns so they had to use DNA data matching and embankment dental maps.

The DVI team is targeting the results of the DNA ante mortem matching process from the victim's family with a post mortem from the body through a forensic laboratory test to be completed within four days.

"Yesterday we took it on Saturday, at least 4 days, hopefully we can speed it up, usually a week. We work persistently, not speed. DNA is also a step - step, right? But it will be tried as much as possible," said Brigadier General Nyoman.
