Bali Police Traffic Directorate and Resort Police are investigating a number of foreign tourists who use fake vehicle number plates. The Head of Public Relations of the Bali Police, Kombes Stefanus Satake Bayu Setianto, said that the Ditlantas Polda Bali and the Polres ranks are currently pursuing users of four-wheeled and two-wheeled vehicles who use police numbers that do not comply with the rules, especially vehicles that use Russian plates. These efforts are important considering the large number of reports from the public and officers in the field who often see many foreign tourists using vehicles using modified plates according to their own wishes without a police number. "The mode is to use a vehicle number plate that is not in accordance with the rules," said Satake Bayu in Denpasar, Antara, Sunday, March 5. Currently, he said, tourists who use many fake plates come from Russia and are still being monitored by the police in all jurisdictions of the Bali Police. "Until now, the four-wheeled and two-wheeled vehicles using the Russian number are still being chased and we will make sure to target the operation," said Satake Bayu. The Bali Police will continue to increase patrols, especially in tourist areas, such as Kuta, Seminyak, Canggu to Tanah Lot, including Ubud, as well as other tourist areas in Gianyar and Denpasar. In the patrol, officers also carried out fines against motorists who were found to have violated traffic regulations. "We Bali Police hope that whoever owns the vehicle with the Russian number, in order to have the awareness to immediately replace it with the original number and for residents who know the whereabouts of the vehicle, please cooperate to report to the nearest police and we will act on the driver," said Satake Bayu. Today, the Klungkung Resort Police Traffic Unit secured four two-wheeled vehicles that used fake vehicle number plates. The four vehicles were secured in Nusa Lembongan driven by a number of foreigners and local communities, at around 10.00 WITA. When officers were prosecuted, a number of these motorists were found to have committed serious traffic violations, namely driving a vehicle using a fake number plate, not wearing an SNI helmet, not having a driving license, without an identity (Pasport) and not having a vehicle ownership certificate. Satake Bayu said that currently, Satlantas investigators are coordinating with the Klungkung Police Satreskrim, to check the status of the two-wheeled vehicle, as well as deepening the four foreigners and local communities who were caught driving the vehicle. "For foreigners who were arrested in Nusa Lembongan, they came from France and Australia. As for foreigners, Russia has yet to be found," he said.
