JAKARTA - The Governor of East Java, Khofifah Indar Parawansa, expressed his condolences for the Sriwijaya Air SJ-182 plane crash in the waters of the Thousand Islands, Jakarta, Saturday, January 9.

He hopes all passengers and crew will be found soon.

"This incident is our common sorrow. My condolences and hopefully the evacuation and rescue process will run smoothly. Hopefully there will be a miracle from Allah SWT and all victims can be found," he said.

To the families of the victims, Khofifah also prayed that they would always be given strength, fortitude and patience over this disaster.

The former Social Minister believes that all flight regulations and operations have been maximized so far.

"However, security and safety are the most important. I believe everyone is in a position to maintain a high level of caution. After the black box is found, we will get a more detailed explanation of what caused the crash," he said.

The location of the Sriwijaya Air SJ-182 plane that allegedly crashed was between Lancang Island and Laki Island, the Thousand Islands area. Various parties have also conducted search operations.

Basarnas has implemented an operational plan by dividing the sectors of aerial search and surface sweeping.

The SAR team that searched the surface of the water around the last know position (LKP) was divided into four sectors by deploying their respective ships, KN SAR Basudewa, KN P Marore, KN Alugara, KN Trisula KPLP, KN P Nipah, KN Celurit, KN SAR Wisnu, KP 301, KN 204, KNP-348, KN SAR Karna, KN Dagger, KN Catamaran - 504, as well as a number of Rigid Inflatable Boat (RIB).

Apart from sweeping the surface, the SAR team also carried out underwater sweeping by deploying several ships such as KRI Rigel, KR Baruna Jaya from BPPT, KN SAR Wisnu, and MGS Geo Survey.

These ships are equipped with sophisticated underwater equipment, such as the Multibeam Echosounder and Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) to detect and search the fuselage.
