Officers Working To Extinguish Plumpang Pertamina Depot Fire, Move To Residential Areas With Narrow Roads

JAKARTA - Firefighters are working hard to extinguish the fire at the Pertamina Plumpang depot pipe fire, North Jakarta. Efforts to extinguish the fire were quite difficult because of its location near residential areas.

From Kompas TV broadcasts, officers entered the settlement with narrow roads to prevent the flames from spreading to residential areas, Friday 3 March.

A number of residents screamed hysterically when they saw the flames that were quite large from the location of the fire. Residents living near the Pertamina Depot complex smelled the pungent smell of gasoline before the fire broke out at the Plumpang Pertamina Depot Petrol Pipe, Koja, North Jakarta.

"There was a strong smell of gasoline before the incident while passing by," said Pandi Ahmad, a resident of Koja, North Jakarta, quoted by ANTARA, Friday, March 3.

Based on the information from the Damkar command center, Pertamina's gas pipeline experienced a severe fire. As a result, huge flames and smoke were seen soaring up high, making the sky around it darken as it was covered in black smoke.

"The final handling of the North Jakarta Fire And Rescue Department is deploying 18 fire extinguishers with 90 personnel," said a statement from the Damkar Command Center tonight.

Recently, hundreds of residents of Plumpang, North Jakarta, are panicking trying to save themselves from the growing fire. The joint officers are still evacuating residents who live next to the fire location.
