JAKARTA - The Directorate General (Ditjen) of Immigration, Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkum HAM) revoked the recommendation requirements from the Ministry of Religion (Kemenag) regarding the management of Umrah passports.

"The recommendation from the Ministry of Religion is no longer a requirement for obtaining passports for Umrah," said Director General of Immigration at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights Silmy Karim, reported by ANTARA, Friday, February 24.

The revocation of these conditions was discussed during an audience between the Directorate General of Immigration and the Central Governing Council of the Indonesian Hajj and Umrah Organizing Muslim Association (DPP AMPHURI).

Silmy said that the revocation of the recommendation requirements from the Ministry of Religion did not mean that immigration did not carry out supervision. "From the results of the evaluation, the recommendation from the Ministry of Religion does not guarantee that passports will not be misused while abroad," he said.

After the policy was implemented, immigration asked companies/associations that organize Umrah and Hajj to ensure that their pilgrims returned to Indonesia.

"If it is proven that there are Hajj and Umrah organizers who violate the provisions, we will re-evaluate the policy," he said.
