A Worry Pandemic, The DPR Asks The Government To Prepare A Building To Quarantine COVID-19 Cases Without Symptoms

JAKARTA - Member of Commission IX DPR RI, Anas Thahir considers the development of the COVID-19 case in Indonesia to be increasingly worrying. Eleven months of COVID-19 in Indonesia, 779,584 confirmed cases were recorded.

From the number of new cases that are increasing every day, the availability of isolation care rooms and ICU COVID-19 in many referral hospitals is also running low.

"In fact, the saddest thing is about the availability of health workers ranging from doctors, nurses, to laboratory staff who, one by one, continue to die while on duty," Anas said in his statement, Wednesday, January 6.

Therefore, Anas asked the government, especially the COVID-19 Task Force to prepare a special building as a quarantine place for COVID-19 cases with the category of people without symptoms (OTG).

Because, according to him, it is feared that OTGs that carry out independent isolation at home will add to the transmission cluster in the family sphere.

"If necessary, they are gathered in a special quarantine place by utilizing state-owned buildings by implementing high-level health protocols," said Anas.

"Because, there must be special handling for OTGs whose numbers are also skyrocketing. Because they are the most dangerous and the most at risk of accelerating transmission," he continued.

In addition, Anas also asked the government to consider a partial lockdown in certain areas where the situation is considered very worrying.

"Particularly, the ruby zone area and tourist spots that allow attracting large crowds," he said.

Furthermore, according to him, the government must also continue to increase awareness of the new variant of COVID-19 which is said to be faster in transmission than the existing COVID-19.
