Staying At Police Station For 2 Days, 25 Inspected Street Children In Kendari Returned Home

SOUTHEAST SULAWESI - After two days of training at the Baruga Police Headquarters, Kendari City, Southeast Sulawesi, 25 street children and beggars who were caught in a raid were sent home Monday, February 13 afternoon.

Head of Social Rehabilitation Division (Kabid) Kendari City Social Service (Dinsos) Husni Mubaraq said dozens were caught in raids carried out by the Kendari City Government (Pemkot) together with the TNI-Polri.

"Yes, they have been (returned). This morning we picked them up at the Baruga Police Station, then we took them to the Satpol PP office, gave them a little briefing, and then sent them home," he said in Kendari, Monday 13 February, as reported by Antara.

He revealed, while at the Baruga Police, the street children and beggars were given an understanding of the dangers of begging on the streets.

Husni Mubbaraq also explained that from the results of the data taken from the children, it was found that out of 25 street children and beggars, there were 10 people who were residents outside Kendari City.

"From the data, we found 10 people who were not residents of Kendari City, consisting of four people from Palembang, two from Makassar, the rest from Konawe Regency and South Konawe Regency," he said.

Not only that, but he also conveyed that of the 15 street children and beggars from Kendari City, it turned out that 13 of the children's parents received social assistance from the government.

"First we took data on the children, then we checked whether the parents received social assistance from the government or not and the result was that 13 people received assistance, two others were also registered as receiving assistance, but they said they had never received it. We will check it again and immediately try to get that assistance," he said.
