Gerindra Agrees If KIR Is Combined With KIB

JAKARTA - The Gerindra Party agreed that the Great Indonesia Awakening Coalition (KIR), which was formed with PKB, joined the United Indonesia Coalition (KIB) consisting of Golkar, PAN, and PPP.

This follows the opportunity for KIB and KIR to join after the meeting of Ketum Golkar Airlangga Hartarto and Ketum PKB Muhaimin Iskandar yesterday.

"Regarding joining KIB and the Greater Indonesia Awakening Coalition, of course, if it happens, we are happy, of course we agree," said Gerindra Daily Chair Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, Saturday, February 11.

However, according to Dasco, the discourse on merging the coalition could only be realized if parties at KIB, in this case PAN and PPP also agreed.

"Living now, the one in KIB is only Golkar or both? If KIB means three parties, I can't answer yet. If for example the three parties KIB agrees, yes we (Gerindra-PKB) certainly agree," he said.

If later the coalition joins, Dasco assesses that the two parties will definitely discuss the mechanism for determining the presidential candidate for the upcoming 2024 presidential election.

"Of course, before the coalition, we will discuss what, what is the mechanism. If that is true, and of course we will welcome it," said the Deputy Speaker of the DPR.

Meanwhile, in KIR, he added, the matter of presidential and vice-presidential candidates will definitely be discussed by the Head of Gerindra Prabowo Subianto and the Head of PKB, Muhaimin Iskandar.

"If the Indonesia Raya Awakening Coalition, or PKB-Gerindra, it was discussed by Pak Prabowo and Pak Muhaimin," concluded Dasco Previously, Golkar and PKB did not rule out the possibility of a merger between KIB and KIR. Golkar chairman Airlangga Hartarto said that the joining of the two coalitions into one would increase the strength of the coalition, especially fellow parties supporting the government.
