Recidivists In Motorcycle Theft Cases Arrested Again By Police Officers

PURBALINGGA – Recidivists in the motorbike theft case in Purbalingga, Central Java have been arrested again for the same case. This time, two perpetrators stole a motorbike belonging to a resident named Dwi Nur Wahyuni, a resident of Banjaran Village, Bojongsari District, Purbalingga Regency in Bojongsari District, last January.

Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Purbalingga Police, AKP Suyanto, on Thursday, February 9, gave a statement that the perpetrator arrested was WGS (30), a self-employed person, a resident of Mandiraja District, Banjarnegara Regency. One other actor was private AH (32), a resident of Purwareja Klampok District, Banjarnegara Regency.

"The mode used was that the two perpetrators went around looking for targets. After getting the motorbike they were looking for, they unlocked it with the T key and then escaped with the motorbike," explained the Head of Criminal Investigation Unit accompanied by Head of Public Relations Iptu Imam Saefudin and Head of Unit 1 Satreskrim Ipda Setyan.

"The perpetrators were finally arrested by Satreskrim in collaboration with Satnarkoba Polres Purbalingga on Thursday 12 January 2023. Because from the information, one of the suspects was a drug abuser," he said.

The evidence that was successfully secured was a Honda Beat motorbike with police number R-2688-V, a motorbike used by the perpetrator in the action. In addition, the tools used by the perpetrators were secured in the form of a letter T key and a Y letter key.

From the statement of the suspects, the two admitted to having acted on more than one occasion. Apart from the Bojongsari sub-district, the two also committed motorcycle theft in the Purbalingga and Banjarnegara regencies.

"One suspect with the initials WGS is a recidivist in a motorcycle theft case. Previously he was convicted in the Purbalingga and Banjarnegara areas," he said.

Kasat Reskrim added that the suspect was subjected to Article 363 of the Criminal Code concerning Theft with Aggravation of Punishment. The penalty is a maximum imprisonment of seven years.
