Thief Of Mosque's Charity Box In Semarang Arrested

SEMARANG - The police are criminalizing a thief who has several times targeted money in a mosque's charity box in Semarang City, Central Java.

Kapolrestabes Semarang Kombes Irwan Anwar said the suspect LK (34), a resident of Banyumanik, Semarang City, was arrested by residents while taking money in a charity box at the Al-Ikhlas Mosque in the Candisari area.

According to him, the perpetrator used a stick with tape attached to the end to take the money from the charity box.

"The action at the Al-Ikhlas Mosque has not yielded results because residents have already been arrested," he said.

The perpetrator was then handed over to the Candisari Police for further legal proceedings.

From the results of the examination, he said, it turned out that the perpetrator had several times stolen money from the charity box at the mosque.

"This is the third action. The two previous actions took place on January 30 and February 2," he said.

From the two previous actions, he said, the perpetrators managed to take money totaling IDR 240,000.

For his actions, the suspect was charged with Article 362 of the Criminal Code concerning theft.
