The fate of six foreign nationals (WNA) from India who failed to sail to Australia and were stranded in Rote Ndao Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) was determined by the Kupang Immigration Office today. The six were decided to be deported.

Darwanto said that the deportation process was carried out after his party conducted an examination of the six foreigners and sought information that they had entered Indonesia and wanted to sail to Australia.

He said the chronology and violations were based on applicable regulations, the six Indian citizens were subject to immigration administrative action in the form of deportation.

"Their names are proposed to be included in the list of delinquency in accordance with Article 75 of Law Number 6 of 2011 concerning Immigration," he said.

Darwanto added that the six Indian foreigners were suspected of being job seekers who wanted to cross to Australia, but were not due to being sent back.

Meanwhile, Head of the Immigration Information and Communication Technology Section of the Kupang Immigration Office, Fitra Izharry, said that the six foreigners who would be deported were Gurjot Singh, Satnam Singh, Karamjit Singh, Aman Singh, Satinder Pal Singh, and Harshadkumar Natvarlal.

The six foreigners from India are adults and all are male.

He added that the six Indian citizens will be repatriated to their country via Jakarta's Soekarno-Hatta International Airport which will transit in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and will arrive in Hyderabad, India, on the same day.

Fitra added that the six Indian citizens had committed violations in the form of entering and leaving Indonesian territory without going through an inspection carried out by immigration officials at the immigration checkpoint.
