JABAR - The Garut Regency Government (Pemkab) guarantees basic needs for food intake for victims of houses damaged by the earthquake in Pasirwangi and Samarang sub-districts.

"So for food, at least a week is fulfilled. So, for yesterday only 3 kilograms of rice was fulfilled," said Garut Deputy Regent Helmi Budiman in Garut, West Java (West Java), Monday, February 6, as reported by Antara.

He said the Garut Regency Government had distributed food needs assistance for people who were victims of natural disasters in the two sub-districts.

Helmi had also given the assistance directly with other official officials to the community, as well as reviewing the damaged condition of residents' houses.

"I shared it directly with the sub-district head, village head, it must be met (food needs)," he said.

He said food assistance was prioritized for people whose houses were heavily damaged because they had to flee to relatives and neighbors' homes.

"Especially the heavy ones, because the heavy ones evacuate to neighbors or relatives, don't be burdensome," said Helmi.

He conveyed that the Garut Regency Government not only guarantees food needs, but also prepares a budget for repairing residents' houses damaged by the earthquake.

Before the assistance was realized, he said, his staff first verified the level of damage to residents' houses to determine the amount of the value of the assistance, so that assistance was right on target.

"You have to be careful, don't let those who don't get hit by the earthquake suddenly enter, that's why we do verification in the field, one by one we do verification," said Helmi.

The latest report on the number of damage to houses in Samarang District was 182 housing units and in Pasirwangi District there were 450 housing units with more damage to light.

Previously, an earthquake with a magnitude (M) of 4.3 rocked the Garut area on Wednesday, February 1 evening. As a result, a number of houses in Pasirwangi and Samarang sub-districts were damaged.
