JAKARTA - The KPK will follow up on the appearance of the name of former Chairman of the Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) Executive Board Marsudi Suhud at the trial of alleged bribery for accepting new students from Lampung University (Unila). The facts that emerged will be confirmed to other parties.

"All the facts of the trial will be followed up by the prosecutor's team by confirming it to other witnesses, including the defendant," said Head of the KPK News Section Ali Fikri to reporters, Thursday, February 2.

If found, Ali said, development would be carried out. Not only about the appearance of Marsudi's name but also others.

Thus, the public is asked to continue to monitor the trial for the alleged bribery of accepting new students. "Please follow the process which is certainly open to the public," he said.

Marsudi is said to have entrusted 24 prospective students to six universities. His name appeared in the report of the examination of the implementing of the task (Plt) Director General (Ditjen) of Higher Education (Dikti) Nizam.

Apart from Marsudi, member of the Budget Agency (Banggar) Commission X DPR RI Muhammad Nur Purnamasi also entrusted prospective new students to Nizam. Of all the names that were entrusted, not all of them were followed up.

"Not all of them have been followed up, Your Honor, there are only one or two incidents. Like Mr. Muhammad Nur Purnamasidi, he wants to enter the University of Indonesia (UI)," Nizam said while testifying at the Tanjungkarang Corruption Court, Bandar Lampung, Tuesday, January 31.

He said the follow-up was to convey to the Deputy Chancellor of UI to check whether the person concerned met the requirements to enter.

"Untuk akhirnya masuk atau tidak yang bersangkutan, saya tidak mengikuti," ungkapnya.

For information, there were three defendants at the trial of alleged bribery for accepting Unila's new students. They are the former Chancellor of Unila Karomani, Deputy Chancellor I for Academic Affairs Unila Heryandi and Senate Chair of Unila M Basri who are the recipients of bribes.

Meanwhile, the bribe giver, Andi Desfiandi, has been sentenced to imprisonment for one year and four months or 16 months. He was also required to pay a fine of Rp150 million, a subsidiary of three years.

This private party was proven to have given bribes to Karomani and other defendants. Andi's decision was made by the panel of judges on Wednesday, January 18.
