JAKARTA - The state-owned currency printing company from Indonesia, Perum Peruri, won a banknote printing project from Banco Centra de Reserva de Peru (BCRP), or the Central Bank of Peru.

Perum Peruri President Director Dwina Septiani Wijaya said this proves that Peruri as a state-owned company is capable of competing in the international arena, as well as having world-class quality machinery and production capacity.

"This achievement is very encouraging for all Peruri personnel, given the very tight competition in the tender process," he said in a press release, Thursday, February 6.

Peruri together with the BCRP or the Central Bank of Peru have signed a cooperation agreement regarding the printing of Soles, the currency of Peru.

The signing was carried out by the Director of Peruri Dwina Septiani Wijaya and the Manager of Currency Management of the BCRP Department Javier Gutierrez Gonzales at the BCRP office, Lima, Peru, Tuesday (4/2).

The signing was also witnessed by the Indonesian Ambassador to Peru, Martina Estella Anwar Bey, and the Director of Business Development at Perum Peruri, Fajar Rizki.

Peruri succeeded in winning the tender for printing the Peruvian currency through a tender process which took approximately two months. He beat other world-class companies, namely Gisecke & Devrient (Germany), Oberthur (France), De La Rue (England), Goznak (Russia) and PWPW (Poland).

The success of Peruri in this tender process was announced in a decree on December 26, 2019. In the agreement, it was stated that Peruri would print three Peruvian denominations, namely Soles 10, Soles 20 and Soles 50 from a total of four denominations used in Peru.

This Peruvian banknote printing project is the highest value in Peruri's history with a project value of IDR 260 billion. In addition, this work is the project with the farthest geographic distance because it is in South America.

"It's a very proud achievement. Thank you to all parties who have helped Peruri realize this achievement. The production process will start in June 2020 and the first delivery will be made in November 2020," said Dwina.
