Minister of Religion (Menag) Yaqut Cholil Qoumas said there were several messages conveyed by the KPK when they met. One of them relates to the increase in the cost of Hajj proposed by the Ministry of Religion up to IDR 69 million.

"We were reminded by the KPK leadership so that this hajj finance should be managed properly so that there is certainty. If it has to go up, the increase must be structured so that pilgrims can estimate how much to increase automatically," Yaqut said at a press conference at the KPK's Red and White Building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Friday, January 27.

Yaqut said that his party had explained the payment scheme for the pilgrimage. Including, the proposed increase in costs in order to maintain the rights of pilgrims who have not departed.

In addition, the Ministry of Religion also explained the harmonization of Law Number 34 of 2014 concerning Hajj Financial Management and Law Number 8 of 2019 concerning the Implementation of Hajj. This process, said Yaqut, is a follow-up to the recommendations issued by the KPK.

"This is still a discussion at the Ministry of Religion but the academic text has been completed," he said.

"God willing, next week we will be able to follow up regarding the advice given by the KPK," continued Yaqut.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chairperson of the KPK, Nurul Ghufron, said that his party paid attention to determining the cost of Hajj. In fact, there was a study conducted in 2019 which was then carried out again in 2020.

"KPK also has attention and feels responsible for organizing this pilgrimage. The determination of the costs is of course in accordance with the expected efficiency," said Ghufron in the same activity.

The KPK ensures that it will continue to promote the Ministry of Religion and the Hajj Financial Management Agency (BPKH). Do not let there be an inefficient budget that burdens the pilgrims in the future.

"Essentially, the KPK will accompany the Ministry of Religion, accompany the Indonesian people so that the determination of the costs of the pilgrimage charged to the community is of course as efficient as possible but must also meet the principles of istitation or ability," he concluded.
