New Year's Eve, Jabodetabek Commuter Line KRL Still Operates Until 22.00 WIB

JAKARTA - KAI Commuter as the operator of the Jabodetabek Commuter Line KRL has made a number of service and operational adjustments on New Year's Eve 2020 to 2021. Unlike previous years, for the turn of the new year this time KAI Commuter continues to operate KRL trips across all routes starting at 04: 00 WIB to 22:00 WIB.

"There is no additional KRL schedule on this year's New Year's Eve," said KAI Commuter Vice President Corporate Communications Anne Purba in her statement, quoted from Antara, Thursday, December 31.

The adjustment of the operating hours for KRL trips is already in effect starting December 18, 2020, and remains in effect until January 8, 2021. The adjustment of operating hours is also a form of KAI Commuter's support for joint efforts to control the spread of the COVID-19 virus while still serving the essential mobility needs of the community.

In adjusting these operating hours, KAI Commuter continues to operate 964 KRL Commuter Line trips per day with a total of 91 train series.

"With the adjustment of KRL operating hours as well, the Commuter Train invites our users to jointly follow the applicable rules, and plan trips properly and leave the house only for truly urgent needs," said Anne.

People who stay out of the house on New Year's Eve are also not allowed to be in the station area after the KRL schedule ends. After the last KRL schedule, the station will be cleaned in preparation for the KRL trip on January 1, 2020.

In supporting the prevention of the spread of COVID-19, the Commuter Train also consistently enforces health protocols, such as the 3M movement that all PT KCI employees and KRL users must carry out in the station area and on KRL trips.

KAI Commuter has also installed additional sinks at 80 stations that serve KRL to make it easier for users to wash their hands before and after riding the KRL.

In addition, the entire train series is washed and sprayed with disinfectant every day after operation. During operation, officers also routinely clean KRL parts and stations with disinfectant liquid.

In addition, in all stations and train series, markers are also available to guide the user's position in queuing, sitting or standing during the trip.

Additional Rules

In addition to health protocols, the KAI Commuter also enforces additional rules for using KRL, such as KRL users who are elderly or aged 60 years and over, each day can only use KRL outside of peak hours, from 10.00 WIB to 14.00 WIB. Meanwhile, children under five are currently prohibited from riding the KRL.

Adjustments to operating hours, additional rules and various health protocols will also remain in effect from January 1, 2021.

In addition to service facilities, KAI Commuter has also prepared 28 portable counters spread across 13 stations including Tanah Abang Station, Bogor, Jakarta Kota, Bekasi, Cikarang, Rangkasbitung, Kemayoran, Depok, Depok Baru, Lenteng Agung, Pasar Minggu, Manggarai, and Bojong Gede.

KAI Commuter has also provided additional facilities for users, including the addition of six portable toilets at Depok, Citayam, Lenteng Agung, Manggarai, Sudirman, and Rawa Buntu Stations. In addition, there are also seven tents to accommodate user queues including Bogor, Citayam, Depok Baru, Ancol, Bekasi, Tambun, and Rangkasbitung stations.
