The police arrested three perpetrators of a gang of diesel fuel-subsidized hoarders in the Demak Regency, Central Java Province. Demak Police Chief AKBP Budi Adhy Buono said the three perpetrators who were part of the fuel hoarding syndicate had been secured. The three suspects who were detained were RM, HL and SS, who were residents of Demak. "This subsidized BBM is sold by actors to industries in the Demak area and other areas outside this district," he said in a press release in Semarang, Antara, Thursday, January 19. In the action, he said, the perpetrators bought the subsidized fuel at a number of gas stations using motorbikes. In addition, the perpetrators also bought subsidized fuel from the collectors who bought it from gas stations. He explained that the perpetrators were armed with a recommendation letter for the purchase of subsidized fuel from a number of farmer groups in Demak. The fuel that has been purchased, he said, is then stored in a large shelter in a building in Karangtowo Village, Demak Regency, before being sold to industry. In the disclosure, the police also secured evidence of about 1,300 liters of diesel stored in a large shelter tub and a number of jerry cans. The perpetrators, he continued, admitted that they had been in action for approximately three months. For their actions, the perpetrators were charged with Law Number 11 of 2020 concerning job creation that regulates oil and gas.
