JAKARTA - Commission IX of the DPR urges the government to immediately resolve the conflict that occurred between Chinese Foreign Workers (TKA) and Indonesian Workers (TKI) at PT Gunbuster Nickel Industry (PT GNI) Morowali, Central Sulawesi, on Saturday, January 14. The clash resulted in the death of two people.

"If the horizontal conflict has occurred and killed victims, then, of course, this is a very serious conflict and needs truly proportional handling from our government", said DPR Commission IX member Saleh Partaonan Daulay, Monday, January 16.

The chairman of the PAN DPR faction also asked the government to give full attention to the families of the victims, in the form of compensation and social security.

"We hope that the victims' families must be given compensation that is truly appropriate, not just compensation from social security that they have received so far", said Saleh.

Apart from the government, Saleh assessed that PT GNI must also be actively involved in providing compensation, especially to the children and wives of the victims who were left behind.

"If there are children who still need it, then we hope this can be considered and their wives also really need attention", he added.

For information, the Central Sulawesi Regional Police named 17 TKI as suspects in the clash at PT GNI in North Morowali Regency, Central Sulawesi.

The suspects are suspected of being the provocateurs of the clashes which resulted in two deaths and damage to the company's facilities. The two victims who died in the clash had the initials XE (30), a Chinese citizen, and MS (19), a resident of Parepare, South Sulawesi.

After the clashes, the joint apparatus increased security to control conditions and situations, especially at vital points.
